A year with the Green Schools Committee 2024-2025

The Green Schools Committee have had a very busy year. In Term 1, they got busy helping their classmates plant lots of bulbs and seeds so everyone could enjoy beautiful flowers in our Spring term. Our gardener also worked with us to help improve the quality of the soil in our garden. We are delighted with the results.

In Term 2, they were very busy adding lots of new additions to our garden to ensure that it was an inclusive outdoor learning environment. They added a new Bird Watching Display, Learn About Our Trees QR Codes, a new Outdoor Library and so much more. They also began preparing for our new school mural and contributed lots of ideas to what should be included in the painting. We look forward to seeing the final result.

In Term 3 The Green Schools Committee got everyone involved in celebrating International Bee Day. They took a child-led approach and turned International BEE day into Central Model Bee Week. There was lots of writing about Bees on outdoor chalk boards, cooking with honey in our outdoor kitchen, labelling honey jars as well as checking in on our garden to make sure it was a Bee friendly environment. And we didn’t let the bad weather spoil our fun, we also looked at rain water preservation and how rain can help our gardens grow.

There was lots of work on biodiversity and investigations into how we can improved our Urban Landscape. Take a look at some of their work below.
