Artist in Residence – TAP+ Project
TAP+ (Teacher Artist Partnership+) is a Department of Education-approved professional development partnership for teachers, artists and creative practitioners to work with children in primary schools which aims to enhance arts education to develop the creative potential and voice of every child.
We were delighted to welcome artist Katie Spiers to our school for an eight-week residency with Senior Infants in Room 3, working alongside Ms Claffey and Ms Wimsey. The children brought wonderful creativity and imagination to the project, which centred on the Irish folklore tale The Children of Lir.
Through this theme, the children explored and developed a wide range of skills in Visual Art, Music, Drama, Creative Writing Literacy and Science, while also strengthening their teamwork, confidence and creative expression.
We finished with a special celebration in the garden, where the children performed the story using puppetry and percussion instruments they had made themselves. It was a joyful finale to an inspiring project. We sincerely thank Katie for her wonderful work in our school.
