Dear Parents and Friends,

Midterm is here. The October sunshine is putting smiles on all our faces. The children have been doing GAA games, rugby, gardening and of course, lots of learning. This week is Maths week so we're doing lots of Maths challenges. We have a big focus on oral language and reading. Keep reading books at home with your child, it really helps them. We are amazed at our junior infants, they have learned so much since August and are already such special members of our school community.

We are VERY excited about Oíche Shamhna (Halloween)! The children have been learning all about the festival, doing beautiful artwork, singing songs and learning rhymes in Irish and English. There are spooky stories, potions and spells. This Friday, the 22nd, we will have our annual Halloween parade. It will be a "no uniform" day and the children are welcome to dress up for Halloween.

Parent/Teacher Meetings

Your child's class teacher will invite you to a meeting in the week starting the 15th of November. We look forward to sharing your child's progress with you. We hope these meetings will be face to face in the school.

School Closures

Midterm: School is closed Monday 25th-Friday 29th of October.

Curriculum Training

We are closed on Friday 5th of November for a Department of Education training day for staff. Please note, this is for the Infants' School only. The Senior school is open.

Covid Prevention

Please do not send your child to school with covid symptoms-coughs, bad colds, high temperatures. Never send them in with a stomach bug. We are trying to keep staff and pupils healthy and covid free.

School Grounds

The Board of Management does not allow waiting in the school grounds before or after school. We share the premises with another school of 200 plus children. This area must be kept clear. For supervision reasons, please do not come into the school until we open the gate.

Thank you for your friendly support. We appreciate it.

Fanaigí slán (Stay safe),

Catherine Groves,

Principal
